James O "J O" Jones was born on April 27, 1928, the son of John Atlas Jones (1892–1959) and Mary Ann (Carpenter) Jones (1897–1964).
He was married about 1949 to Mary Martley Wilkerson (1929–2016), the daughter of Robert Yancey Wilkerson (1911–1980) and Evie Lee ( -- ) Wilkerson (1912–1995).
J O was a Mason and a member of Baptist Believers Fellowship Church. He was also the owner of J O Jones Construction Company. A resident of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, he was 87 years old when he passed away on January 19, 2016.
Preceded in death by his son James Russell Jones and by his daughter Helen Martillie Jones, he was survived by his widow, a son, six granddaughters, a grandson, a married brother and a daughter-in-law.
Funeral Services were held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, and burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
