The Gadsden Times, Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1982, page 10: Mrs. Vera Pertree Abel, Fairoaks Circle, died Monday at a local hospital. Services at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel and burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Survivors, husband, W.E. "Pete" Abel; daughter, Cathy (Mickey) Kessler and family and son, Wilson Pete Abel II. Also surviving were three sisters. She was a native of Geraldine and an Etowah County resident for a number of years. She was a member of East Gadsden Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Alabama Sheriffs' Boys and Girls Ranch or John Croyles Big Oak Ranch.
