JESSE E. SWIGER was born in Harrison Co., (W.) Virginia, on March 24, 1788, SON of ______ Allen & Elizabeth (Swiger); His parents were not married, and he took his mother's maiden name as his own last name. His mother later married James Kelly in Harrison Co., (W.) Va., in 1790.

Jesse E. Swiger was raised in Harrison County, (West) Virginia, by his mother and step-father.

MARRIED: CASSANDER A. "CASSIE" (BROWN) in Harrison Co., (W.) Virginia, on January 02, 1812, by Rev. Thomas Maxson; She was the daughter of Jabez Brown & Nancy (Holland).

After their marriage, Jesse & Cassie settled on what was later the A. I. Strother farm, and built their cabin near the present site of the Odd Fellow Cemetery.

Jesse Swiger served in the War of 1812-14 in the Virginia Militia in Capt. Jacob Israel's Company.

Jesse was a noted great hunter.

Jesse E. Swiger DIED at Brown, Sardis District, Harrison Co., W. Va., on December 22, 1864, at the age of seventy-six.
