Del was born in Gorin, Missouri on December 5, 1923 and resided in Chillicothe , Illinois until relocating to Bradenton, Florida. He is survived by his wife Rita Joffer-Kiefer. 2 sons Thomas Delbert Kiefer and Bryan Phillip Kiefer and one daughter Diane Jean Kiefer-Gurrera from a previous marriage (Norma Jean Rhodes-Kiefer). He is survived by one grandson Troy E. Wright and 2 granddaughters Wendi D. Blair and Lila Ellis. Three great grandsons Edward L. Sotomayor, Michael Cornell and Marcus Cornell. Two great granddaughters Shelby L. Roger and Brittany Cornell. One great great granddaughter Addison P. Sotomayor. One great great grandson Mason L. Sotomayor. He is a WWII Veteran who served in Europe. He earned the Bronze Star among many other medals. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, The loyal Order of the Moose and the VFW, of which he was the commander of the VFW in Chillicothe, Illinois. After returning from the War he worked at the Iowa Ordinance Plant in Burlington, Iowa. He then worked as a Brakeman/Conductor on the Santa Fe Railway for 41 years.
