update: his remains were returned to Rhode Island on Oct. 12, 2021, and a funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021 at St. Rocco Church, Johnston, followed by burial in St. Ann Cemetery.

First Lieutenant Mazzulla was the Field Communications Chief assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, U.S. Army; Korea. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on 2 December 1950 (the Battle of Chosin Reservoir). He was presumed dead on 31 December 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial (Find a Grave Memorial 184600400); also see the National Korean War Veterans Memorial (Find a Grave Memorial 118560079).

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced that U.S. Army 1st Lt. Anthony R. Mazzulla, 26, killed during the Korean War, was accounted for May 28, 2020.

his name also appears on two monuments at Johnston's War Memorial Park, Johnston, where the late Dan Mazzulla, sr (Anthony's brother) was Parks and Recreation director, a job also held by his son, Dan Jr., (Anthony's nephew) who died in April, 2020.
