Verne L. Wilson, age 97, died January 23, 2016 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on December 1, 1918 in Wellington, Kansas, the son of David S. and Mable Morris Wilson. As a member of the Garden City community since 1971 he was an active member of the American Legion and the Sunshiners Kiwanias.

Verne proudly served his country in World War II and received a purple heart. On April 7, 1940, he was united in marriage to Regina McKabney in Wichita, Kansas. She survives.

Patricia Vaden of Monte Sereno, California
Cindy Martin of Liberal, Kansas

14 Grandchildren, 25 Great-grandchildren, 19 Great Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David Wilson, and one grandson.

Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. in Garden City, Kansas.

Visitation will be form 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Honor Flight in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home; 620 N. Main St. Garden City, Kansas 67846.

Interment will take place at Fort Dodge Veterans Cemetery in Dodge City, Kansas at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday.
