After high school she began a career in field work, picking berries and fruit while also working in fruit-packing houses. Gentry worked in the industry for more than 25 years.
She married Jack Milan in 1928. The family followed the seasonal crop harvests until 1941 when the couple divorced. In 1943, she married Walter Fry. Fry died in 1979 of Lou Gehrig's disease.
In 1980, she married Raymond E. Gentry at Pomeroy, and the two spent their summers in Pomeroy and winters in Quartzite, Ariz. She developed cancer in about 1986.
Gentry enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower garden, and helping others. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Garfield County Senior Citizens Center in Pomeroy and the American Association of Retired Persons.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
