An avid hiker, she loved to cook, sew, bake, and share her wisdom with friends, always having time for her family, especially her grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest, traveling the world and taking time to help others by volunteering and working for the Palo Alto School District. A fan of Stanford.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Copeland, and daughters Carole Hewitt and Joanne Carson. She is survived by her two daughters Barbara Abernathy of Walnut Creek, Shirlee Alpers and her husband Rick of San Jose, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Vistas Hospice and Bellamore RCH for their love and care.
A celebration of her life will be held on her hundredth birthday. Private family service has been held. In Elner's memory donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, Milpitas and Little House, Menlo Park.
