He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Sam was a retired maintenance supervisor with Owens Corning Fiberglass.
He was a 32 Degree Mason, served as Master of New Ellenton Masonic Lodge #389, was a member of Scottish Rite and the Jamil Shrine Temple. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Lowe (J. A.), Barnwell; Andy Lowe (Donna), New Ellenton, David L. New (Mary), Aiken, Sam W. Lowe III, Aiken; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
