Clarence Dawes Anderson, “Andy”, 88, died January 27, 2016. Son of Benjamin Harrison and Rona Pearl Austin Anderson, he was born on November 26, 1927 in Jackson County, Alabama.
Andy was a resident of Huntsville, and retired from the Army at Redstone Arsenal in January 1991. He was a faithful member of the College Park Church of God for the past 52 years. Andy was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. Andy was an avid golfer, and he also loved gardening. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Loretta McCoy Anderson; brothers Clifford, Autis, Leroy, Lester and Elbert; and sisters Nola Pace, Eula Freeman, Myrtle Duncan, and Helen Bell.
He is survived by a daughter Pat Pugh and husband, Dewayne; son Mike Anderson and wife, Molly; son Jack Anderson and wife, Barb; five grandchildren Kim Taylor and husband, Chris; Jeremy Anderson and wife, Amy; Jeffrey Anderson; Amy Patel and husband, Sandy; and Kelly Pugh; 6 great-grandchildren Meagan, Ashlee, Logan, Briana, Kieran and Connery; and numerous nephews, nieces, and their families.
Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Friday at Spry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, at 11 am at Spry Funeral Home. Officiating ministers will be Reverends Timothy Lanier and Paul Lombard, Jr. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jeremy Anderson, Chris Taylor, Jim Anderson, Steve Anderson, Bruce Anderson, and Roland Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Jeffrey Anderson and Phillip Anderson.
