He graduated from William Allen High School, and earned a B.S. in Fire Administration from SUNY-Empire State College and an M.P.A. from Kutztown University. Brian fulfilled a childhood dream when he joined the Allentown Fire Department in 1975, where he served in every rank, becoming chief in 1999. After his retirement from the City in 2003, he continued in the fire service with the Western Salisbury and Emmaus fire companies. He had a special interest in training and safety, was an adjunct instructor for the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, and a former board member of the Burn Prevention Foundation. He served on the board of the Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society.
Brian was a member of Seibert E.C. Church, Allentown, where he played in the Brass Ensemble and was a past president of the Trustee Board.
Survivors: In addition to his wife and sons, brother Karl E. of Northampton; sister, Phyllis F. of Allentown; and a loving extended family.
Services: Celebration of Life Service with full fire department honors; 12 noon Saturday, March 20, in Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. (at Lincoln Ave..)
