Born in Providence, a son of the late Frederick and Katherine (Gallagher) Bailey. He was a retired Teamster for Local #251 driving for Spector Freight Systems and Vallerie Transportation . He was a past Grand Knight of the Msgr. Blessing Council K of C #5273. He was also a Coach/President of the former South Providence/Washington Park Little League. An avid fan of the NY Yankees and Cleveland Browns and his favorite pastime was watching his grandson Matthew play hockey.
He is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Sullivan and her husband Tom, two sons Joseph Bailey Jr. and his wife Cindy and Steven Bailey and his wife Jean, his sister Carol Curley, two grandchildren Jill Kazanjian and Michael Sullivan and five great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mary Ellen Tennian, William Bailey and Frederick Bailey.
Funeral Monday at 9:00 am from the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad Street, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Paul Church, One Saint Paul Place, Cranston at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held at Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery, Warwick.
