As told by the Moss family, when Elizabeth was 17 she had a brief encounter with a soldier on his was back home from the Civil War. This resulted in the birth of her first child James Hayden. Since her sons father was to remain a mystery she gave the young boy her fathers name. He was to be known as John Hayden Moss.
In the year 1882 Elizabeth's sister Nancy Anne passed away leaving a small daughter Minnie Refina and a husband Solomon Young. Elizabeth married Solomon Young within the year and raised her sisters daughter as if she were her own. Solomon and Elizabeth had three children of their own. The first was a son, William Riley Young who married Elizabeth Emelda Stone. Next they had a second son, Henry Ward Beecher Young who married Sallie Smith. Their youngest child was a daughter, Gertrude Luetta Young who married Charles Linvelle Spencer. Not long after the birth of her daughter Solomon passed away. Elizabeth took the children to live with her parents and there she met her next husband, Pleasant Ephriam Goodall. He was a new widower after the death of his second wife Mary Hudson. He too was left with small children so combined they raised a house full. Three of these children would go on to marry the children of James Riley Spencer.
Around 1910 the couple moved to Oklahoma to be closer to their Spencer/Goodall children. Two of them did not make it through an illness and had passed before the close of 1911. The couple and the remaining family picked up and move to Idaho and open a retail store. August 1923 Elizabeth passed away in there home in Idaho. This being the last wife for Pleasant. Although he would go on to live another 10+ years. He spent them with his daughters Mary Matilda Hensley and Oda Lucrecia Spencer.
