Joseph came to Canada from Scotland in 1912. Joseph enlisted in WW2 after seeing all his brothers serve in WW1 with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He saw active duty just outside Florence Italy. He was Awarded the Defense Medal, Cdn. Volunteer Medal, 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star and the France & Germany Star. After the war he purchased the house he was raised in and in his later days lived there with his sister Kathleen Laughlin. Joseph never married but was a beloved Uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
