Delilah Ferguson and Andrew Powhatan Gadd married on Feb. 25, 1851, and lived on a farm near Flat Top, in Mercer County, Va. (now W.Va.).

According to a 1999 e-mail from a Ferguson researcher, Delilah Ferguson was born around Feb. 23, 1831, in Bedford Co., Va., a daughter of Jesse Ferguson (born about 1788 in Va.) and his wife Elizabeth Hatcher (1787-1860, Va.). However, the birthdate on Delilah's tombstone appears to be March 31, 1829. By the time of the 1840 federal census, the Fergusons were living in Mercer County, Va.

Working from information on the Hatcher Families Genealogy Association site and information provided by a genealogy contact, I believe Delilah's siblings were John W. Jesse Ferguson, Jeremiah Ferguson, Sarah Ferguson McBride, Elijah Walker Ferguson, Jemima Ferguson Hatcher and Daniel W. Hatcher.
