After a short illness, Jack Laverne Tull passed away at the age of 89 on January 26, 2016. Jack was born at home in Marcola, Oregon to Orval Dale Tull, Sr. and Frances Evelyn Rogers Tull. He later moved to Salem where he worked in the California Packing Co. cannery as a label machine operator from 1943 to 1951. Jack then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed at various United States east coast bases as an antiaircraft gunner. In 1954 Jack settled in Riddle where he was an apprentice saw filer in a lumber mill, a profession in which he continued working his way to the head saw filer position. On July 19, 1958, Jack married Mary Lucille. Jack’s wife, Mary, died in 2014. Jack and Mary lived in a number of different locations. They eventually settled in Eugene, where he retired. In Eugene, Jack was an active member of the Eagles and received several awards for outstanding achievement. In 2005 Jack and Mary moved to Woodburn Senior Estates where he resided until his death. He enjoyed gardening and his home. Jack is survived by his stepchildren, Paul Shones and Susan Cauich; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his two brothers: Orvil Jr. and Lawrence Tull and sister Barbara King. A memorial service held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at West Lawn Memorial Park Funeral Home in Eugene, Oregon. Arrangements entrusted to West Lawn Memorial Funeral Home.
