Leona Lorraine Schuster was born November 30, 1924, the youngest child born to Simon and Bessie (Campbell) Schuster of Dodge Center, Minnesota. She passed on to her heavenly home early on Sunday, January 31, 1916 at the Golden Oaks Advanced Assisted Living in Duluth, Minnesota.

She grew up on the family farm and spent much of her time helping her father with the chores. She and he sister Gina were especially close and always found a reason to laugh whenever they were together.

Leona (Onie) married Ross C. Osborn on July 14, 1945 in Austin, Minnesota. In 1955 they moved to Waseca. She was a loving mother to her two children, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. they also opened their home to provide foster care and she always made the neighbor kids feel welcome.

Over the years Leona had many different jobs. She worked for National Cash Register in Rochester, Chicago, Philadelphia and Waterloo, Iowa, a grocery store in Austin, and a candy factory, a tinsel factory and matchbook monogram factory in St. Louis, Missouri; and at Tot "n" Teen children's shop in Owatonna. Once settled in Waseca she worked for about nine years at the Waseca Journal, the JC Penny Catalog Store and at the supermarket deli. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Waseca.

Leona had a contagious laugh and easily made friends everywhere she went. She loved to dance and Ross, her sister, Gina and husband Bud were frequent visitors to dances in the area. Before moving to Duluth in 2012 she made frequent visits there and her birthday dinners were the requisite Bloody Mary at Blackwoods in Duluth was one of the highlights of the year.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her five siblings, Lyle, Hilton, Frances, Lavonne and Virginia (Gina) and her husband, Ross. She is survived by her son and daughter, their families and several nieces and nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday February 12, 2016 at the First Congregational Church in Waseca with visitation one hour before the service with lunch afterwards. A memorial service for friends in Duluth will be announced soon. Internment will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
