Oct. 4, 1888, he was united in marriage to Nance E. Clemens of Marshall county, Iowa. There were six chidren; Harvey, Howard, Mrs. Will Sauer, raymond, Mrs. Chas. Mohr and Mildred, all residing in this vicinity, his wife haing passed away Jan. 4, 1912. He also leaves to mourn his departure four brothers and three sisters, Mrs. T.H. Jones of Ventura, california, Mrs. J.A. Havens of Conrad, Iowa, Mrs. H.T. Jones of Marshalltown, Iowa, J.W. Of Los Angeles, California, F.P. and G.W. of Hartley, and W.S.Walter, of Beaman, Iowa, besides many other relatives and friends.
Appropriate services were held at the home of GM.Walter at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 by the Mason lodge, of which he was a member. The funeral services were held at Ocheyedan in the afternoon at the M.E. church, the M.E. minister of that place officiating. After the services, the remaines were taken to the Ocheyedan cemetery where they were laid to rest beside his wife, where many friends and neighbors paid their last respects to the departed one.
Many beautiful wreaths and floral designs were contributed by friends. The services at the grave were conducted by the order of Masons.
Relatives from a distance were: W.S. Walter and wife, H.T. Jones and wife, Mrs. J.A. Havens, Mr. A. Clemens, and Mr. E Pegg, of Marshalltown.
