Rev Benjamin Griffith was the son of Rev John Griffith and the widow Jane Rydderch of Wales. Many of his ancestors, his father, 1/2 brothers and cousins were preachers.

Benjamin had a sister Sarah and 6 Griffith half sibling by his father and 4 Morgan half siblings by his mother.

He came to the colonies with his parents in 1710.

In 1711 Benjamin was baptised in the Pennepak Baptist Church and by 1720 he was a member of this church. Benjamin and his 1/2 brother Rev Able Morgan worked together expanding the Welsh Tract Church.

Benjamin was a minister at Montgomery Church for 48 years.

Benjamin married Sarah Miles the daughter of Richard and Sarah (Evans) Miles.

The couple had 5 children:
1. Jane b. 1721, m1. unk Evans, 5 ch, m2. unk Roberts 2 ch
2. Rachel b. aft 1721, m1. Abel Davis, m. 2 Joshua Perry
3. Rev. Abel M. b, 1723, d. 1793 KY, m. Sarah Coffin, 6 ch
4. Sarah b. 1732, marr. unk Roberts
5. Joseph b. 1733, d. 1773, marr. Mary Jones a cousin, 6 children

His tombstone reads:
Rev. Benjamin Griffith, later minister of the Gospel at Montgomery, d. Oct. 4, 1768, aged 80. Minister of the church at Montgomery 48 yrs.

Nothing is known of Sarah's death or burial location.
