Mrs. Effie A. Ellison, 89, a resident of the Pine Crest Nursing Home, died Thursday in John Warner Hospital in Clinton.
She was born October 18, 1897, a daughter of George D. and Cynthia Jane Davis Pasley. She married Rev. Lewis S. Ellison, December 30, 1900, in Vandalia. He preceded her in death May 25, 1949.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lou Esther Sampson, Clinton; Mrs. M. Bernice Rogers, Bradenton, Florida; Mrs. Dorothy E. Thompson, Portland, Oregon, son, James S. Ellison, Milwaukee, Oregon; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The Ellisons resided in Waynesville from 1917 until 1920, while Rev. Ellison was pastor of the Methodist Church there. He was a minister in the Central Illinois Conference of the Methodist Church for 46 years. He also was a field representative for Illinois Wesleyan University from 1944 until his death.
Mrs. Ellison was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She resided in Bloomington before entering the nursing home.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Dr. E. E. Atherton officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington.
Visitation will be at the Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington from 7-9 p.m. today.
