Ann Margaret Stang was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, South America, on September 3, 1898. In 1904 she was taken by her parents to Saraton in Russia, where they resided until 1909, at which time they immigrated to Canada and homesteaded in the Macklin, Sask., district. She was married to Herman Blatz on October 19, 1915, and together they homesteaded at Primate, Sask. In 1937, they moved to Wetaskiwin, where they farmed until 1940, then moved to Kelsey and continued to do so until their retirement to Camrose in 1962.
Death claimed Mrs. Blatz on April 18, at the age of 68 years. Surviving are: her loving husband, Herman; seven sons, Herman and Rupert of Camrose, Alex of Daysland, Bert of Ohaton, Rev. Father Peter Blatz, O.M.I. (a Missionary in Salvador, Brazil), Ronnie of Kelsey and Father Joseph Blatz, O.M.I., of Reward, Sask.; six daughters, Mary (Mrs. Wendelin Blatz) of Daysland, Sister Hermana, O.S.U. (Hilda) of Primate, Sask., Sister Jeanette, O.S.U. (Katie) of Prelate, Sask., Victoria (Mrs. Walter Sturek) of Daysland, Anne of Calgary and Alovsia (Mrs. Sig Famulak) of Camrose; 36 grandchildren; 13 brothers, and five sisters.
Mrs. Blatz was predeceased by one daughter, Sister Aloysia, O.S.U. (Clara) in 1937, two grandchildren in 1951 and 1962, and one brother in 1956.
