Leroy Arvin, 81, of 1501 W. Governor St. died at 12:15 p.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital.
He was born in Riverton on Sept. 16, 1906, the son of Albert and Nellie Mae Strode Arvin.
He married Harriet Zachary in 1928.
Mr. Arvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Fellowship Club, Optimist Luncheon Club, and a lifetime member of Optimist International.
He was former owner of Arvin's Laundry and Dry Cleaning for 31 years, retiring in 1973.
Surviving are his wife, Harriet; one son, Richard A. of Chatham; one daughter, Helen M. Haynes of Springfield; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Cal (Ethel) Smith of Buffalo and Mrs. Gary (Mary) Vanwie and Mrs. Robert (Grace) Schaeffer, both of Springfield; and two nieces.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Bisch Memorial Home, with the Rev. Lewis Neiomoller and the Rev. Michael Strong officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
