John Travis Crabtree, age 48, of Menlo passed away Monday, February 1, 2016.

A native of Chattooga County, Mr. Crabtree was born February 25, 1967 son of the late James and Dorothy Jean Haygood Crabtree. Prior to becoming disabled, he was employed in the carpet industry and also as a private duty CNA. Mr. Crabtree was a very caring person who loved his friends and family. He loved to sing and was the life of the party. He enjoyed fishing, music of all sorts, computers, gardening, dancing, and hummingbirds. Mr. Crabtree was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and was of the Baptist faith and was the the “family counselor”. He was preceded in death by a son Micah Jon Crabtree and a brother Will Ed Crabtree.

Survivors include his son and daughter in law Dean and Cherens Dutt of Tennessee; brothers and sisters in law James Lynn and Brandy Young Crabtree, Marty Darrell and Susie Crabtree, and Gary Lane and Phyllis Crabtree. Sister and brother in law Brenda and Danny Jones. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3 until 4 PM at the funeral home. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Danny Jones, Jimmy Eaves, Dean Dutt, Jamie Crabtree, Ryan Crabtree, Carl Crabtree, Kevin Hutchens, Steven McElwee and Ray Caldwell, Jr.
