BUFFALO - George Robert William "Bill" Griffith, 83, of died May 3, 2002, after an extended illness.

A native of Buffalo, he was the widower of Agnes Evans Griffith and a son of the late James Robert Sr. and Emma Ponder Griffith.

He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church, Duncan Masonic Lodge No. 256, Hejaz Shrine Temple, American Legion Post No. 87 and the Buffalo Men's Club. He was a 1938 graduate of Union High School and was a veteran of the Army, having served during World War II. A self-employed merchant, he was the former owner and operator of Buffalo Cash and Carry.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Buffalo Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Tim Anderson and Steve Lemons. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2:45 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post No. 87.
