Betty Eldridge Adair passed away February 9, 2016 at Elmcroft Senior Living Facility in Chattanooga after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on June 3, 1925 in Chattanooga and was a longtime local resident.

In addition to being a loving mother of three children, Betty was an avid bridge player for more than fifty years. She enjoyed the game as well as the socializing with the many friends she met over the years. Also, she was very talented in needlework, being a member of the Embroiders Guild of Chattanooga and its president many years ago.

Thirteen years ago, Betty moved to Ft Lauderdale, FL where she continued to play bridge, enjoyed water aerobics and gardening in her yard where she cultivated several exotic plants. She was a longtime member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. In 2010 she moved back to Chattanooga.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Arthur N. Adair, Jr.; sisters, Barbara Patterson and Martha Dickerson; parents, James and Annie Eldridge; daughter in-law Betsy Carlson Adair; and her close friend, Murray Kiviat.

She is survived by her children: Art (Donna) Adair of Houston, TX; Gary Adair of Springfield, IL and Susan (Ken) Levi of Chattanooga, brothers: Robert (Jeanetta) Eldridge Chattanooga, and Don (Karen) Eldridge of Houston, TX. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great great - grandchild.

Graveside services for Betty will be Friday February 12th at 11:30 am at the U.S. National Cemetery with Joshua Rochester officiating.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Elmcroft Senior Living for all the love, respect and care they gave to Mrs. Adair.
