Herrin - Jack E. Anderson, 72 died at 4:20 am Wednesday, Jan 31, 1996 at his residence. Mr Anderson retired as an Illinois State Trooper after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Catholic Church, Illinois State Police Assoc, Fraternal Order of Police and a veteran of of the Navy having served in World War II. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home is in charge and burial will be in Herrin City Cem with military rites.
He was born Jan 26, 1924 in Ferges to George and Georgia (Branch) Anderson. He married Mary M. Benoit on Dec 7, 1957 in Wilton Center and she survives. Also surviving are 2 sons and a daughter in law, Kevin and Becky Anderson of Herrin and Jay A. Anderson of Des Moines IA, 2 granddaughters, Ashley and Emilie Anderson, both of Herrin; 2 brothers and 2 sisters in law, Bob and Helen Anderson and Keith and Ellen Anderson, both of Herrin. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maxine Russell.
