James Blackburn, 60, of London, went home to meet Jesus, family, and friends Wednesday, February 10, 2016. He was born April 3, 1955, in Elkin, North Carolina, son of the late James Troy and Elizabeth Currie Blackburn. He was a United States Marine veteran, retired from Arkansas Nuclear One, and was a loving father, husband, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Frances Blackburn.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Blackburn; son, Elijah Blackburn; daughter, Jessica Blackburn; step-daughter, Angela Porrelo; step-son, Jason Bailey; step-mother, Marie Blackburn; grandson, Milo Blackburn; sister, Teresa Blackburn; uncles and aunts, Clyde Blackburn and wife Karen, and Cal Currie and wife Marie; several nieces and nephews; and 3 fur babies, Cheasty, DeeDee and Beau.
A celebration of life and memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 16, at Lemley Chapel in Atkins. Private burial in Shiloh Cemetery will be held at a later date.
