Iris Carruthers, 84, of Momence passed away Wednesday morning, February 10, 2016. Iris was born to Hans and Hilda Schomer on August 26, 1931 in Beecher. Iris married Steve Carruthers on her birthday, August 26, 1950 in Beecher.
Iris is survived by: son, Wendell (Marie) of Bourbonnais, grandson, Ryan (Lisa) of Bourbonnais, and great-grandchildren, Kenny and Bailey Carruthers of Bourbonnais. Sisters, Yvonne (Don) Neimeyer, IN; Sharon (Lyle) Hartman, Kankakee. Sister-in-laws, Mary Ruth Kenshalo, KS, Peg Carruthers, ID, Brother-in-law, Harry (Helen) Carruthers, ID. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Iris was retired from The Baker & Taylor Co., Momence. She was a 65 year member of the First United Methodist Church, Momence.
Iris loved to cook for her family especially cookies with her husband always a willing taste-tester. She loved quilting and crocheting. Always sharing her made with love goodies.
She cherished her family especially her 2 great-grandchildren.
Her wake was held at The First United Methodist Church, Momence, on Monday, February 15, 2016.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
