Abdella, Angeline Abdella, Angeline Marie of Flushing, age 90, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2015, at Rossell Funeral Home. Chaplain Don Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until the time of the service. Angeline was born in Mt. Clair, West Virginia, the daughter of a coal miner, on November 12, 1924. She was the youngest of 11 children born to Pasquale and Louise Guarascio, immigrants from Italy. She grew up on a farm on the West Virginia hillside where her family grew grapes and made their own wine. She often bragged about how as the baby, she was spoiled and got away with doing very little work on the farm. At only 4'10" she was the proud captain of her high school girls varsity basketball team. She was also a class officer for the Class of 1943. After graduating high school, she traveled to Flint, Michigan, to visit her sister and there met the love of her life, William Abdella, Sr. After only one date, Bill proposed, and two and a half months later, they were married! Bill and Angie were married for 65 years, until Bill's death in 2008. Together, Bill and Angie raised four boys. Angie was a Cub Scout den mother while her boys were growing up. Angie loved to cook and always made enough food to feed a small army! She was an expert in both Italian and Lebanese cuisine. She enjoyed making her famous Italian Christmas cookies every year with family, as well as her Italian Easter bread. She made sure no one ever went hungry. She loved to garden and took pride in her beautiful flowers. She was a dedicated grandma to her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She always put others before herself. Angie spoke of her family with extreme pride and passion. They were her greatest achievement. Angie was a wonderful, compassionate woman who was loved and admired by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Angeline is survived by her sons, Bill and wife Karen L., Joseph and wife Karen S.; daughter-in-law, Linda; grandchildren, Angela (Brent) Owen, Gina (Mike) Shuster, C.J., KateLynn (Brent), Kevin, Kyle; great-grandchildren, Emmerson and Blake Shuster, Mason Lanning and soon to be born, baby Owen. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; husband, William; sons, Franklin and Charles. Angie's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Carol Westfall and the staff at Westfall's AFC, her amazing hospice team at Grace Hospice, Traci, Darby, Sherry, Don, Heather, Brandy, Paula, Tina and the staff at Regency Nursing and Rehab Center.
