Capt. Hans Jorgen Tollefson Solberg died yesterday at .1 p. m. at his home No. 1040 North Main street. Mr. Solberg was born in Larvik, Norway, Dec. 10 1823, He came to New York in 1844 and made that place his home until he settled in Racine in 1866. Mr. Solberg died in the residence that he first lived in when he settled here. He has been a sailor on the big seas and great lakes ever since his boyhood until up to two years ago when he had to retire on account of his poor health. He has been owner and captain of three vessels on Lake Michigan, namely, the "Belle of Racine,'' "Magic" and was present owner until up to his death of the Josephine Dresden.'' Mr. Solberg was a man well posted on the lakes, good, naturel, honest and honored by those who knew him best. Mrs. Solberg wife of the deceased, died, in October, of 1897. He was married to her in New York in 1850. ?? He leaves five children to mourn him. Three sons, namely Thomas. Peter and Harry and two daughters, Mrs. Caroline Anderson and Mrs. Elizabeth (John H) Smith. The funeral will take place tomorrow, Sunday from the residence at 1:45 p.m., and at the Trinity M. K. church on La Salle street at 2:15 p.m. He was a true and faithfull member of that denomination since his conversion in New York in 1846. 19 Apr 1902
