Lendon M. Williams 88, died Saturday, February 13, 2016, at FirstHealth Hospice House, Pinehurst, NC, surrounded by his family.


Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Reverend Bill Reynolds and Reverend David Bibey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

The body will lie in state at Kennedy Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning and beginning at 2:00 PM at Pine Grove Church.

Lendon was a native of Moore County. He loved the land and working on the farm. He was a cattleman, who enjoyed seeing animals grow and provide food. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed meeting and talking to all types of people, especially at Maness Music Barn and the Chicken Hut. Lendon served the Lord as a Deacon and in the Prison Ministry program. He was a son of the late Jim and Laura Maness Williams and was preceded in death by wife: LaRue Leach Williams; brother: Royster Williams; sisters: Florence Deaton, Eliza Myrick, Lizzie Bray, Omma Maness, Madie Maness, Evelyn Brady.


Lendon is survived by his son: Terry Williams and wife Candace, grandchildren: Casey and Austin Williams; sisters: Elgie Underwood, Hazel Collins and husband O’Brient; sister in law Jerri Cooper and many friends.
