Asheville - Edith Ann McElrath Goss, 76, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Laurels of Green Tree Ridge.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Goss was a resident of Asheville Terrace Apartments, where she lovingly served as librarian. She, along with her late husband Jim, co-owned and operated Quality Upholstery for many years. She was a member of Montmorenci United Methodist Church. Mrs. Goss walked everyday with her Lord, and never waivered in her faith. She was a fearless and beloved mother, courageous woman, and a friend to all. She was quick to offer compassion and generosity to friend or stranger, always being careful never to draw attention to herself. She loved her family, her wonderful friends at Asheville Terrace, and her church family.
Mrs. Goss was the daughter of the late Jack and Hazel Ridley McElrath, and the wife of the late James Nathan "Jim" Goss. She was also preceded in death by her foster son, John Edward McElrath; and a brother, Jack Edward McElrath.
Surviving are her children: Kathy Ballard and husband Terry of Asheville, and Dr. Steven Hendrix, Ph.D of Judith's Fancy, Christiansted, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.
