Updated: 09/12/2015-Abraham TINKER was born 1 October, 1775, somewhere in North Carolina. At this point in time we are unsure who Abraham's Parents were, due to recent DNA Findings.
Abraham married a woman by the name of Polly. We do not know who her parents were. Erroneous information floating around online has her to be Polly HOBDAY but this is incorrect and I have information that I feel will substantiate my claim. Polly HOBDAY married Edward TINKER Jr.
Edward Tinker Jr and Polly Hobday were married 21 July, 1803 in Craven County, North Carolina. Polly died just a few days shy of two years later as evidenced in the following Death Notice record:
8 July 1805 • Newbern, North Carolina
Tinker, Mrs. Edward. Jr.. Je. 26. Newbern. R. R. Jly. 8. 1805 (Marriages and Death Notices in Raleigh Register and North Carolina State Gazette 1799-1825. )
Just two months after Polly died, Edward Jr married a second time to a Miss Betsy Druery on 5 December, 1805 in Craven County, North Carolina.
Since Polly Hobday Tinker died in 1805 we have further proof that the woman Abraham Sr married was not this Polly Hobday!
Abraham Sr and wife Polly's oldest son Jesse P Tinker was born in 1805. Abraham and Polly both appear on the 1850 Census in Cocke County, Tennessee.
Children of Abraham Sr Tinker and wife Polly:
Jesse P. TINKER
James Abraham TINKER
Abraham TINKER Jr
William TINKER
John Benjamin TINKER
Obediah TINKER
Isaiah TINKER
Eli TINKER
On 16 March, 1866 in Cosby, Cocke County, Tennesse Abraham TINKER passed away.
