Virginia Gale Spillane was born March 30, 1946, to John (Bud) and Virginia (Opal) Harris in Klamath Falls. Surrounded by her family, she passed away Feb. 14, 2016.

Virginia grew up on her family's dairy farm in Langell Valley and attended school in Bonanza. While growing up, she made many lifelong friends who she cherished very much. She graduated from Bonanza High School in 1964.

After attending medical secretary school in Portland, Ore., for a year, she married Gene Spillane. Together, they had four children, Kim, Tammy, Shawn and Shane. While raising her family, Virginia owned and operated the Lorella Store and Tavern as well as farmed and ranched a portion of her parents' old dairy farm.

She was also a "second mom" to many others. She was always ready to listen. Virginia was a self-described jack-of-all-trades, but master of none. She was known to drive school bus, dump truck, backhoe and virtually all types of farm equipment throughout her life. Her most rewarding work outside of the home came from helping students while working as a paraprofessional at Shasta Elementary School. She especially loved having her own grandchildren attend Shasta. Consequently, she became known as Grandma to many. During this time she also worked at Albertsons.

Virginia valued her family above all and was proud to care for her Aunt Dora and Grandma Pearl for several years. Her most cherished moments were spent among family and friends at family celebrations. She especially enjoyed family camping trips to the Oregon Coast, visiting Hawaii and traveling to Alaska to visit her dear friend, Robin.

She is survived by her children, Kim (Roland), Tammy (Myron), Shawn (Bernyne) and Shane (Vanessa); her brothers, Allen (Sandy), Ed (Brenda) and George (Janette); her sister, Yvonne (Jim); 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a large and wonderful extended family, including numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
