James A. "Jim" Clancy, Sr., 84, of Springfield, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at St. John's Hospital.

Jim was born November 9, 1931 in Taylorville, the son of James A. and Anna Mae Sheppard Clancy. He married Ann M. Dower on September 14, 1957 at St. Patrick's Church in Springfield.

Jim was a 1949 graduate of Cathedral Boys High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Jim held an Executive position with the Secretary of State for 37 years and was a doorman for the State of IL, House of Representatives. He officiated IHSA basketball for 20 years and had been a member of IVBDSC since 1992. He was also a member of VFW #755, American Legion #32, and K of C #364, and was SEA Treasurer and a life member of Navy Club Ship #32. Jim was an usher for 50 years at the Church of the Little Flower and was past president of the Little Flower Men's Club. He enjoyed traveling, Notre Dame Football, music, dancing, and supporting his grandchildren at sporting events. Jim was the 2000 Irishman of the year and Grand Marshall of the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Maureen Mae Clancy; one grandson, Eric Aeppli; two brothers, Raymond Refine and Vincent Clancy; and one sister, Eloise Barrington.

He is survived by his wife, Ann M. Clancy of Springfield; one son, Jim Clancy, Jr. of Springfield; three daughters, Shannon (husband, Larry) Johnson of Springfield, Colleen Aeppli of Sandwich, IL, and Kathleen (husband, Don) Moles of New Berlin; eight grandchildren, Sarah (husband, Bret) Gelderman of South Bend, IN, Kimberly, Sean, and Ryan Johnson, all of Springfield, Robyn Aeppli of San Diego, CA, Crystal Aeppli of Sandwich, IL, and Dustin and Autumn Moles, both of New Berlin; one great-grandson, Henry Gelderman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation and Concelebrated Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:15 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola and Father John Nolan, celebrants. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
