Mary Elizabeth Hight was born in Barbour County, AL. She came to Texas with her family from Troy, Pike County, AL before 1874. She married James Francis Blair on 10/11/1874 in Coryell County, TX. He was born 2/28/1856 in Fulton County, AR and died 4/04/1891 in Callahan County, TX.

On 11/26/1891, Mary Elizabeth married William Franklin Moore in Callahan County, TX. Mr. Moore was born 8/30/1848 in Wright County, MO and died 12/3/1913 in Nolan County. He was a son of Robert "Sampson" and Elizabeth Calton Moore. His first marriage was to Roxanna Webb on 6/28/1863 in Missouri.

Mary Elizabeth died on 3/14/1939 in the Hylton Community in Nolan County, TX. She was the daughter of Felix Franklin and Delila Stuart Hight.

MARY ELIZABETH MOORE

Sweetwater, Mar. 14 - Funeral for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Moore, 82, is to be held from her Hylton home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Her body is to be placed in Campbell Cemetery beside her husband, who died in 1914. Mrs. Moore died at her home Tuesday morning at 5:30 o'clock.

This pioneer woman, who had lived in Texas for the past 64 years, was widely known in this section. She was a native of Alabama and had lived in Nolan County since 1900, living in Hylton and Valley Creek communities continuously.

She was married to J. F. Blair in 1884 and lived in Callahan County, near Cross Plains, until her husband's death in 1892. She married M. E. Moore a few years later and moved to this county.

A birthday celebration was held at her home last July 17th, honoring her on her 82nd birthday. Five generations were present, and hundreds of friends and relatives attended.

She is survived by ten children, 51 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Her eight sons are S. B. Moore and O. S. Moore of Divide, G. E. Blair of Sweetwater, W. F. Blair of Blackwell, J. I. Blair of Maryneal, H. A. Blair of Hylton and Buel Moore of Nolan; and her two daughters, Mrs. M. Moore of Blackwell and Mrs. R. O. Holland of Nolan.

Yates Funeral Home carried the body overland to her home Tuesday morning and is to have charge of funeral arrangements.
