Former Chugiak resident Ruth Eva Carter, 86, died Nov. 23, 2004, with family at her side at Birchview Care Center in Sedro-Woolley, Wash.
She was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Nashua, Mont., to Jacob and Sophia (Michel) Weinmeister.
She graduated from high school in Nashua and attended Kinman Business School in Spokane, Wash. There she met and married Russel Carter on Feb. 1, 1940. They lived in Seattle, what is now Kirkland, Wash., and Ocean Shores, Wash., before moving to Alaska in 1971. After her husband's retirement from Biddle & Crowther, they moved back to the Lower 48 in 1981, settling in LaConner, Wash. They were members of the First Evangelical Church of Mount Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russel, in 2004; her son, Roger, in 1996; and siblings, Victor Weinmeister and Ida Morrison and their spouses.
Her family wrote: "Over the years and in her travels, she made many wonderful friends. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed."
Mrs. Carter is survived by her children and their spouses, Rusanne and John Eagle of Addy, Wash., Roger and Sheila Carter of Carnation, Wash., and Roberta "Bobbie" Jacobson of Sedro-Woolley; grandchildren, Brian, Sara and Kevin of Carnation, Kacie and Jessie of Sedro-Woolley, and Faustin and Russell of Chugiak; sisters and brother-in-law, Erica Bishop, and Helen and Glenn Mueller; and many other family members.
Arrangements were with Hawthorne Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
