Jacob Stutzman was the son of Jonas and Magdalena Stutzman. His wife Barbara was the daughter of Jonas and Catherine Miller, who were buried in the Christ E Miller Farm Cemetery (L-24). The date of death and burial location for his wife is unknown. Jacob and Barbara had children born in 1847, 1849, 1851, 1853, and 1855. According to a grandson, Jacob died as a result of suffering a broken back at a barn raising at the home of his brother-in-law, John Miller. He was carried back to his home where he later died. His likely date of death is 1856.
