She was the first female editor of a newspaper in Rochester, New York, and went on to become the first woman to edit the national Catholic publication, The Pilot, in Boston. In 1907 she received the highest Catholic honor in the nation, the Laetare Medal, from the University of Notre Dame. In 1909, the C. M. Clark Publishing Company, Boston, published her book, The Story of a Beautiful Childhood.
