His final resting place has been determined to be Greenwood Cemetery Montgomery AL. It is reasonble to assume he is buried next to Eva Andrews in the unmarked grave. He served in the Civil War as Private in Company D in the 9th Georgia Regiment. He was captured at Knoxville TN and kept at the Rock Island Federal Prison in IL until repatriated. He was said to resemble a living skeleton. His elbow was shattered in a train wreck. While in Rock Island he carved images that are displayed on this page. When the War was over he came to Clay County FL to help graft orange trees which is a trade he was taught by his Father James Highsmith Andrews. While there he married Elizabeth Causey MAR 19 1868. They had one daughter Lena Andrews who married a Fleeman. Elizabeth is buried in an unmarked grave in the Old City Cemetery in Jacksonville FL just inside the gate on the left. Later he married Evaline Cassandra Borders Andrews in Eufala AL. She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery near Montgomery AL. They had 6 children all of which were born in Eufaula AL.
Willhelmina Evaline Andrews born MAR 05 1885; Lee Jasper Andrews and His fraternal twin Mary Louise (Later Finch)were born JUN 08 1886 Lee died JUN 05 1959 and she died AUG 15, 1981 at the age 95 in Boynton Beach FL; Walter Andrews born May 04 1888 place and date of death unknown; Charles Herbert Andrews born MAY 13 1890 and died SEP 08 1968. He served his country honorably in the US Army; Florence Andrews born FEB 21, 1894. As with many soldiers before and after him down through the ages Jasper DeKalb Andrews probably suffered from PTSD leading to the absence from his family. Lee Jasper Andrews quit school at 14 to help his mother support the family with her sewing.
