She was born June 27, 1937 in Manistique, the daughter of Ray and Lalla (Peterson) Martin and attended Manistique area schools. She was a graduate of Manistique High School with the Class of 1955 and furthered her education in nursing school.
On September 28, 1957 the former Eileen M. Martin married William "Beano" Olesak in Brookfield, Wisconsin. They made their home and raised their family in Manistique. Beano preceded her in death on January 7, 2001.
In her earlier years, Eileen owned and operated Eileen's Ceramic Shop out of her home in Manistique. She later worked as an LPN at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique for many years until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique where she served on the funeral luncheon committee. She was also a member of the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility Retired Employee's group. Eileen enjoyed golfing, bowling, crocheting, ceramics, and gardening.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Patricia J. Olesak of Gladstone; son, Stephen (Martha) Olesak of Kalamazoo; daughter-in-law, Christine Olesak of Gladstone; five grandsons; one granddaughter; one great granddaughter; loving friend and companion, Eugene "Mutzy" Schneider of Manistique; sister, Eleanor (Ronald) Jackson of Manistique; special niece, Linda Swanson of Manistique; along with her extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William "Bill" Olesak in 2011; and her brothers, Herbert Martin and Gordon Martin.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Parish prayers will be said at 7:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique with Father Ben Paris officiating.
Burial will be held in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.
