Mr. James T. Risner, 78, of Athens Street, Hartwell, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born on January 2, 1945 in Royston, GA, he was the son of the late Rubin R. Risner and Eula Rogers Risner. Mr. Risner retired from Tenneco Automotive Equipment Co. as a machine operator and of the Baptist faith. He loved gardening and hunting.
He is survived by two daughters: Stephanie Norton of Hartwell and Vickie Hendrix (Neal) of Canon; one brother: Danny Risner (Michelle) of Hartwell; one sister: Nancy Edmonds of Lilburn; five grandchildren: LeAnna Risner (Broudes Walker), Amber Risner, Kyle Risner (Haley), Brittney Robinson (Casey), Lindsey Meadows (Josh); eight great grandchildren: Katlyn, Landon, Xavier, Bryson, Taylor, Easton, Brylan, Brayden.
Mr. Risner is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Sandra Jane Floyd Risner; one daughter: Patricia Risner; one son: Mike Risner; two brothers: Arnold Risner, Gerald "Zip" Risner; two sisters: Hauline Brooks and Ruth Ann Feidler.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home of Stephanie Norton, Athens Street, Hartwell.
A memorial service celebrating Mr. James Risner's life will be held Friday May 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Coker officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
