Marie E. Newcomb, 93, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 in Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church. Following the funeral service, Mrs. Newcomb will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Lewis Newcomb in Perry Memorial Gardens.
Marie was born on July 22, 1922 in Cordell, Oklahoma to the late William and Elmira Coyner. A lady of strong faith, she was a charter member of Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church where she served in any capacity asked of her. She was on the Board of Trustees and a former Youth Director. She was instrumental in the growth of the youth program and even had a wing named after her at the church. For many years, she worked at Perry Hospital as the Housekeeping Supervisor. Marie welcomed friends and family into her home and truly enjoyed spending time with them. In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by her son, Norval Tipton; daughters, Joan Ray and Lora Tipton; great grandson, Joseph Coynor Davenport; and several siblings.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Sterling Tipton (Mona), Kathleen; Alice Brehm (Rodney, Sr.), Perry; and numerous beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
