Bartha Bailey McGee, age 82, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Sunrise Rehab. & Care Center.
Born in Cocke County, TN on May 8, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John William and Nancy Jane Ford Grindstaff.
Mrs. McGee was a long-time member of Muddy Creek Baptist Church.
She retired from Drexel Heritage Furnishings.
Her family will remember her as a beloved mother and grandmother and her extended family lovingly referred to her as "Mamaw Bartha".
Two husbands, Jesse Bailey and Willard McGee, three brothers, Lawton, Paul and Hugh Gene and three sisters, Octa, Willena and Rowena, preceded her in death.
Surviving Mrs. McGee is a son, Barry Bailey and wife Brenda of Nebo; two grandsons, Kyle Bailey and Darren Bailey of Nebo. Also surviving are two step-children, Hilda Edwards and Stuart McGee, both of Marion.
Services will be held Friday, May 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Daniel McMahan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Old Nebo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 31 College Place, Suite D-320, Asheville, NC 28801.
