Rev. Slice was a graduate of Chapin High School, after which he earned a BA degree at Newberry College in 1954 and a Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 1957. He was pastor of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Mount Ulla, NC; Mount Hermon Lutheran Church in West Columbia, SC; and then for twenty-nine years he was Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Anderson. Since retirement, he has been a member of University Lutheran Church, Clemson, SC.
Survivors include a son, Stephen P. Slice, and his wife, Deborah, of Lexington, SC; a daughter, Kristeen Slice Balcombe and her husband, Mike, of Piedmont, SC; four brothers, James C. Slice and his wife, Mary Jo, of Anderson, Heyward F. Slice of Chapin, SC, George B. Slice, Jr. and his wife, Patsy, of Florence, SC, and C. Stanley Slice and his wife, Lucy, of Chapin; a sister, Margaret S. Epting and her husband, Joe, of Chapin; three grandsons, David Moore Slice, Benjamin Paul Slice, and John Stephen Slice; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, and his wife, Karilyn, Rev. Slice was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ruth Haile, and a nephew, Ronnie Epting.
Committal: Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
