Shirley J. DePreta, of 443 Service Ave. Sharon, PA, formerly of S. Pymatuning twp., passed away in her residence on Fri., Dec. 5, 2014 at 10:16p.m. after an extended illness. She was 77.
Shirley was born in Sharpsville, PA on September 18, 1937, the daughter of the late Mahlon Brice and Lillian (Numer) Burkhart. She had worked as a cook at the Italian Home in Farrell, PA.
Shirley was a member of the Farrell VFW and the Italian Home in Farrell. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, painting, and doing word puzzles. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Shirley was of the Baptist faith.
She was the widow of John L. DePreta. who died on Dec.. 28, 2012. She is survived by her three daughters, Susan Smith of Grove City, PA Joanna Laird and her husband Roger, of Hermitage, PA, Cynthia Fragle and her husband, Joseph, of Sharon, PA and her two sons, Larry DePreta and his wife, Rebecca of Wilmington, NC, John DePreta Jr and his wife, Helena, of Sharon, PA, She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by three sisters, Eleanor DeMarco, Betty Guthrie, and Mary Reeher along with two brothers, Howard and Jim Burkhart.
