Stephen Cardy married Louisa Cocagne on September 5, 1878 in Door County and they were the parents of three children. [Door County Marriage Index through 1927, Vol. 1, page 29]
In 1920, the children were: Mrs. Thomas Owens of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Lawrence Cardy of Volcan, Michigan; and Emanuel Cardy of Door County, Wisconsin.

"Death of Stephan Cardy, Was in His 72nd Year and Had Been a Resident of Sawyer Since 1878
Stephan Cardy, an old and respected resident of Sawyer, died Saturday afternoon at his home on the farm on the Green Bay road. He was 72 years old and a resident here since 1878. Funeral services were held here Thursday morning at 9 o'clock from Corpus Cristi church, Rev. Pfiefer officiating. Deceased was born in October 1848 and shortly after coming to this country married the oldest daughter of Augustus Cochane, who died several years ago. Mr. Cardy with his many years here always resided on his 40 acre farm on the Green Bay road. He is survived by his three children, Mrs. Julia Owen of Waukesha, Lawrence and Manual, who are at home."
