A native of Rutherfordton, she was a daughter of the late Burley Coleman Roper and Lenora Kiser Roper, and the widow of Dan Lawing. She was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, and was a retired open end operator with Cone Mills.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Thompson of Spindale; one sister, Pat Beheler of Rutherfordton; six brothers, Flay Roper of Spindale, Hoyle Roper of Forest City, Bill Roper, G.W. Roper, Bobby Roper, and Norman Roper, all of Rutherfordton, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Alan Beard and Billy Honeycutt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held prior to the service at Crowe Funeral Home.
