Mr. A.L. Stubbs, age 74, a resident of 1208 Patton St. Lumberton, NC died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at UNC Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC.

He was born August 26, 1926 in Robeson County, son of the late Raymond and Nettie Lovette Stubbs.

Mr. Stubbs was a retired lieutenant with the Lumberton Police Department, a veteran of the Korean War and a long time employee of Biggs Funeral Home. He was a member of East Lumberton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Ginny) Britt Stubbs of the home, two sons, Alan Lynn Stubbs and Alex Duane Stubbs (Mary) of Lumberton, a daughter, Virginia Renee Stocks (Greg) of Lumberton; three grandchildren; Whitney Ashley Stubbs, Jonathon Stubbs and Michael Duane Stubbs; two sisters, Bernice Plott of Lumberton and Daphne Redding of Columbia, SC; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was held at 3pm on Sunday, April 22, 2001 at East Lumberton Baptist Church with Pastor H. LeRoy Burke, Pastor Robert L. Lovette and Rev. Norman Wheeler officiating. Music was provided by; Mr. Glenn West, Pastor Todd Stout and Mr & Mrs Norman Wheeler. Interment was in New Hollywood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lumberton Police Department Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Barraca Sunday School Class.
