Smith, Arkansas; El Paso, TX; and finally, retiring and moving back to Boise to live until their final move to Cove Point Independent Living in Provo, UT.

She also was active in Genealogy and Family History work for over 50 years until her death. Soon after arriving in Boise, she volunteered downtown Idaho State Genealogy Library and helped open up the Family History Library in the LDS McMillan Building chapel in Meridian Idaho Stake in 1981. For eight and a half years she and her husband worked in the Boise Idaho LDS Temple. In 2007 they moved to Cove Point Independent Living in Provo, UT.

Deon’s marriage to M. J. Cotterell was solemnized on July 18, 1987 in the Boise Idaho Temple and her two sons were sealed to them for time and all eternity. Their family loved to travel, fish, camp and visit extended family. She was well liked throughout her life, and loved to serve, teach and make many gifts for friends, neighbors, and strangers. All were welcome in their home including young women who needed assistance through LDS Social Services.
